CCS' Board of Directors Cap SecureCare Network Size to 300 Providers

22 Apr 2016 9:12 AM | Anonymous

CCS' Board of Directors is working hard for you and your practice.  The Board met Tuesday night and a thought out decision was made to cap SecureCare network size  to 300 providers.  Smaller networks are more attractive to carriers and in some states, like Ohio, the initial Securecare network was too large to finalize a contract with one of the nation's largest insurance carriers.

Securecare Update

It is expected that SecureCare will contract with one of the top six insurers in Colorado within the next few weeks at which point we will disclose that carrier.  We are awaiting for a response from Aetna as well but believe they may have already renewed their current agreement for another year until spring 2017.  On the bright side, the Aetna network director who picks the intermediary was in California but is now relocated to North Central region where Securecare already has BCBS and Aetna contracts because of its superior utilization platform and lower network fees of 4% on average. This bodes well for Securecare providers! CCS' Board thanks our fellow DCs that have joined and credentialed with SecureCare and encourage all members that have not started the process to do so immediately at Join SecureCare!

Legislative Update

CCS' Board of Directors would like to clarify another mis-perception that is circulating in the profession in Colorado.  The CCS is able to engage in political activity and "lobbying", case in point our support of HB 16-1326.  CCS will conservatively and wisely use funds for issue based legislative initiatives that have high yield. Spending $100K on legislative intermediary bills that continue to fail against budgets 6 times larger only demonstrate further the necessity for a delegated contracting solution to the intermediary problem.  We will be forming our legislative priorities for 2016-17 at the Board meeing in May WITH MEMBER INPUT.  We want to hear from you.  Please send your comments or suggestions to The CCS is also recruiting the Chair of Government Affairs and we are in early discussions to hire our first "on demand" lobbyist. Nominations for Government Affairs Chair, including self-nominations for the position may be sent to
